Dr Newns is a clinical psychologist and has provided expert witness services since 2008. She works in Sussex and East Anglia.
She takes instructions in civil litigation cases including clinical negligence. She also undertakes CICA assessments, assessments for employment tribunals and capacity assessments. She trains others in expert witness work, in partnership with the Expert Witness Institute.
She regularly provides expert witness assessments for the courts and holds the Cardiff University Law School Bond Solon Civil Expert Certificate. She specialises in the effects of trauma in both adults and children, including the long term psychological impact of pain.
Dr Newns recently completed an MSc in pain management approaches at the University of Edinburgh and offers training and supervision in psychological approaches to pain to other professionals.
Dr Newns has specialist training and experience in diagnosing individuals with Autism Spectrum Conditions and undertaking cognitive assessments. She provides support and training for people working with clients who have a learning disability and clients who have Autism Spectrum Conditions. She is able to consult with companies on reasonable accommodations for individuals who have Autism Spectrum Conditions in order to ensure that workplaces are effective and enjoyable for all.
Dr Newns offers 1:1 psychological therapy to individuals. Her particular interests in therapy include trauma, phobias and anxiety, and pain conditions. She is able to offer psychological therapy online.
Dr Newns provides medico legal assessments, throughout Sussex and East Anglia and psychological therapies in Brighton.
