Dr Newns is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist and is experienced at working with adults and children with a range of psychological difficulties.

She is registered with the Health and Social Care Professions Council and have been a qualified Clinical Psychologist for over 15 years.

Dr Newns’ areas of work:

Dr. Newns works with people with a range of mental health difficulties and has a special interest in chronic pain conditions. She also works with individuals with difficulties including:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression and low mood
  • Low self-esteem and assertiveness
  • Grief and loss
  • Stress (including Work stress)
  • Traumatic experiences
  • Eating difficulties

Dr. Newns is qualified to diagnose Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC), and also works with individuals with ASC.

Dr. Newns is committed to improving the mental health of clients who identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Queer, Asexual, or other diverse sexualities, genders, and relationship structures.

Dr Newns’ way of working:

Dr. Newns works in a flexible way, guided by the needs and preferences of her clients. She chooses the best type of therapy for a client based on their presenting difficulties and expectations from therapy, while also considering the evidence base of the approaches that she draws from.

Her main approaches are known as third wave CBT and includeAcceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT). She is also a qualified Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing practitioner.

Dr. Newns also works alongside a group of Psychologists at In Mind Consulting, to increase psychological resilience and wellbeing in the workplace.
